2019 Annual Report

Telling the story of our mission. St. John’s Church parishioners, Service Committee and staff have been busy spreading love, lending a helping hand, and having fun! Below is a highlight of our 2019 projects and programs. Take a peek at what’s keeping us busy!

The Key to Growth + our GIFT to you!

An alternate name for our first trimester theme could easily have been “Unlocking the Me in MothEr” and curiosity could quite possibly be the key. “The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.” ~Lao Tzu Over the course of the first four months of this year, we will go on a journey of self-discovery or self-rediscovery. Often we can find ourselves lost in the doings of motherhood. In Read more…

Curiosity and the Enneagram

Do you want to regain that childlike, innate curiosity? Curiosity opens us to discoveries and of relating to others. Have your ever watched your curious child? Let’s get curious about what limits us and what serves you. Curiosity opens us to discover new ways of perceiving our own barriers. Curiosity is always available, just waiting for us to open and shift our way of being. ICYMI, Carrie Kirkpatrick joined us in January to launch our Read more…

Firearms Safety

On January 7th we hosted a community event at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hansen Hall. Many of our members live in Jackson Hole, and firearms are a traditional way of life in this area. We thought it would be wise to offer another firearms safety workshop that could help us all gain knowledge and live safer lives. Shepard Humphries, Lynn Sherwood and Momo Renkes of the Jackson Hole Shooting Experience led the workshop, complete Read more…

Reframing the Lens—Changing the Way We Watch

St. John’s Episcopal Church and Community Safety Network are partnering again for the 2nd annual “Reframing the Lens: Changing How We Watch” film series. The screenings this year will focus on sexual violence, victim blaming and how, as a culture, we tend to regard survivors with skepticism and doubt. We hope to engage a conversation about reframing our perspectives around sexual violence in our communities and shifting our collective response to be trauma-informed and based Read more…

Creation Care

For the Season of Advent, we at St. John’s decided to align ourselves with the presiding bishop’s goals and vision for Care of Creation. Many of you made a commitment with us (the staff and clergy) by choosing one of these five goals: Go Vegan or Meatless Mondays, Eliminate Single Use Plastics, Buy Second-Hand Clothing, Watch Three Films or Create a “Sustainability Kit.” To keep the Creation Care momentum going, (we like to continue this Read more…

A Bright Light, A Loving Mission

I’d like to make a friendly amendment to the Season of Epiphany also known as The Season of Light. I’d like for us to think of Epiphany as the Season of Light and the Season of Warmth. The Star in the sky at the birth of Jesus lights the way of the wise ones to the manger. And, their presentation of gifts to the babe, Jesus, is a warm exchange between the Holy Family and Read more…

Home Dedication Ceremony

After 18 months of hard work, eight families will soon be moving into their newly constructed Habitat for Humanity homes in the Grove. St. John’s Church will be hosting the homeowner dedication ceremony in February. To help them settle in, each family will receive a gift basket of household items. If you would like to contribute to the baskets, please pick a needed item (or several!) off the board in Hansen Hall. Return the items Read more…
