Nkosi Kakhulu

Serving this summer at The Chapel of the Transfiguration, I was deeply moved, recalling the scripture from the First Book of Kings, chapter nineteen, verses eleven. Here, the Lord reveals Himself to Elijah on the mountain, not in grandeur but in a gentle whisper, a subtle yet profound presence. My time at The Chapel, the Transfiguration, has been a journey of similar revelations. Whether it was hiking around Jenny Lake, ascending towards Corbet’s Cabin, cycling Read more…

Connection & Belonging For Readers

Do you remember how it felt, having someone read to you when you were young? Sitting on Grandma’s lap, or Dad holding up the pictures while he read to you at bedtime? It always felt magical. Did you do this with your kids? Did you feel a bit disappointed when they got older and wanted to read on their own? Reading with your kids doesn’t have to end just because they want to be independent. Read more…

Let There Be Peace on Earth

In 1955, Jill Jackson-Miller, AKA as Harlene Wood, AKA Harley Wood, AKA Evelyn Merchant, AKA Jill Martin, AKA Jill Jackson, with the help of Sy Miller writes the song we hear echoed at Christmastime, “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” Out of a list of aliases emblematic of an existential crisis that finds Jill so severely depressed that she composes a lyric, “let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me,” rings Read more…

Meet Cora Ligori

My name is Cora Ligori and I’ve attended St. John’s Episcopal Church while serving in many capacities since I moved to the valley from North Carolina in 2007. I did not grow up attending an Episcopal church, but I have always been moved by how St. John’s serves the Jackson Hole Community. I believe in the goals, vision, and mission, which is why I support A Legacy of Love Campaign. Browse ‘n Buy became a Read more…

Creating COZY

An invitation to reflect Dear Church, It’s a head-scratcher for me as to why we cram SO MUCH into the holiday season. It seems like the starter pistol fires after the busy-ness of Thanksgiving, and we are off to the races. Several years ago, we made the foolish decision to try to visit family after Christmas. We were still living in California at the time, so we did all the things we do at home—the Read more…

The current situation in Cuba is the worst that many Read more…

Farewell from Glendon

Early last century, in downtown Jackson and in Grand Teton National Park, St. John’s began its rich history and legacy with two chapels and a hospital. Like many of you, we were not born in Wyoming, but we got here as soon as we could. I was born in Indiana, a Hoosier, across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, where over 40 years ago I met this beautiful redhead named Amy. We got married, had Read more…
