AMOS Health & Hope 2026 Mission Trip

In early March a team from St. John’s traveled to Nicaragua in support of AMOS Health and Hope, a nonprofit organization that promotes public health for the Nicaraguan people. We spent six days in San Rafael Kum, a remote mountain community. Our team brought 45 simple, effective water filtration devices, assembled and delivered them to residents. We held wound care and burn care informational presentations for adults, and craft and play classes for children. Our construction team helped to repair and freshen up the community health clinic. This work included building an new latrine and an outdoor shower, adding shelving, locks to the doors, and a fresh coat of bright pink paint.
The work that AMOS does in Nicaragua, alongside the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health, is truly inspirational. In the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere they are making a significant difference in the lives of the least fortunate. We are blessed to do our part, spreading love and resources, and every year we are blessed by the beautiful people we interact with, who graciously welcome us into their beautiful country.
St. John’s has partnered with AMOS, with financial support and by sending a team of volunteers each year for the last four years. God willing, we will return next year and for many years to come. To learn more about our most recent trip, and to learn how you can help this amazing organization by joining our next mission trip and/or by supporting them with a donation, come to a presentation in the Underground at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 19. The team will host coffee hour after the 10:00 a.m. service that day.
