Love Is Our Superpower

Last Sunday, my sermon spoke to a simple truth: in the face of anger, fear, pettiness, toxic ideologies, polarization, discrimination, and narrow-mindedness, only radical love will prevail. At St. John’s, we witness this love in action every day, from warm winter jackets hung on tree branches, to our unwavering support for vital local ministries—One22/Jackson Cupboard, Habitat for Humanity, Wyoming Immigrant Advocacy Project, the Recovery Community, CLIMB Wyoming, the Period Project, Laundry Love in Idaho—tangible expressions Read more…

Many parish members made a gift to the campaign, but that may have been in 2023 or 2024. John Goettler announced the Challenge Grant on Read more…

How close is God?

The question, I believe, is one that we carry in a unique way as people living on the doorstep of the Tetons. Six to nine million years ago, the earth’s surface spread and stretched, creating stress along the fault line that runs south to north from Read more…

Prayers of Wind River

Many of you frequently ask about our work on the Wind River Indian Reservation (WRIR). Both Brian and I have been deeply engaged in a variety of ways over the past several years. One of us serves at St. David's in Ft. Washakie and Our Father's House in Ethete once a month. This has been an incredible, life-giving experience for both of us, helping us to create deep and meaningful relationships on the WRIR. Brian Read more…

It's All Grace

Every Tuesday morning the staff of St. John’s gathers up for a meeting, to spend a couple hours together in the same room, to plan for the upcoming week’s and month’s events, to assess how we’re doing as a staff and a church. To open things up Jimmy (or one of us, in his absence) always brings a short reading for us to reflect on. This is what he brought last week: “In theory there Read more…
