St. John’s News

August

Our Centennial Celebration at the Chapel of the Transfiguration was a beautiful thing indeed. So much love, food, music. So many beautiful people gathered to celebrate 100 years of love at the heart of this church and the heart of this valley. Well done, all who made it happen and all who attended. I was having a conversation with a couple guys before dinner, one relative newcomer to the valley, one old timer. The newcomer Read more…

In Memoriam: Flo McCall This last week of June, I was in Tahoe for a poetry conference — studying with poets I love, and generating work among a huge-hearted community, in the incomparable grandeur of the Sierras. The day I arrived, in the middle of our orientation, I missed a call from Jimmy. When I texted to ask if I could call back later, he replied with the message, “911.” As he told me that Flo Read more…

Rewilding

This summer at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Jackson and The Chapel of the Transfiguration in Moose, we’re embracing the theme of Rewilding—a return to the untamed beauty of God’s presence in our lives, our shared story, and our worship. Rewilding invites us to strip away what is overly domesticated and rediscover the raw and challenging grace at the heart of our biblical narrative—the God who meets us on mountains, rivers, and under open skies. We’ll explore how Read more…
