St. John’s is excited to host a Sacred Ground Circle this fall. What is Sacred Ground?
Sacred Ground, a program developed by the National Church, explores American and World history from diverse perspectives through the lens of our faith, and offers the opportunity for personal introspection and conversation. It is an enlightening journey, which requires the commitment of all participants.
Sacred Ground is a dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. A small group will use films and readings to walk through chapters of the history of race in the United States, while weaving in threads of family stories, economic class, and political and regional identity. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day—all while staying grounded in our call to faith, hope, and love. Sacred Ground is part of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society.
Mary and Brian facilitated a Circle in 2023. There is a new curriculum, Robbi Farrow, Alissa Ehrenkranz, and Brian will convene a Circle this fall.
