Bishop Angel Rivera was consecrated on September 18, 2025, in Havana. Bishop Angel traveled to both Puerto Rico and Cuba for over 10 years before he moved in July to become their bishop. He stated that his consecration was the joy of his life. He looks forward to spreading the gospel and helping the people in this very difficult time.

Father Rody Perez Risco continues to serve the parishes in Itabo and Favorito. He describes Bishop Angel as wanting to be close to the clergy and the communities in Cuba. Rody shares that the Bishop has a very good pastoral and missionary vision and wants to strengthen relationships of fellowships and cooperative work.

The Friends of the Episcopal Church in Cuba (FECC) recently shared the continuing struggles and challenges for the people of Cuba. The country is experiencing its worst recession since its independence with aging infrastructure, fuel shortages and a weakened power system. Consequently, power failures negatively impact water purification systems, transportation, daily life and employment. The Cuban people are frustrated and suffer from food insecurity and reduced buying power. Mosquito borne illnesses have increased as the country no longer sprays.

This year marks the fourth Feliz Navidad Cuba. The FECC has a goal to provide food for all 52 parish communities across Cuba as fewer than half of the parishes have a partner church. The goal is $20,000 to provide for all the communities.
