St. John’s is excited to host a Sacred Ground Circle this fall. What is Sacred Ground?
On Sunday, September 27, come to Adult Formation in the Underground at 9:00 a.m. to learn about our upcoming Sacred Ground series. We are convening a Circle, beginning in October and running through March to explore the history of race and the possibility of reconciliation, viewed through the lens of our Christian faith. Come see what it’s all about.
Sacred Ground is a dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. A small group will use films and readings to walk through chapters of the history of race in the United States, while weaving in threads of family stories, economic class, and political and regional identity. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day—all while staying grounded in our call to faith, hope, and love. Sacred Ground is part of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society.
Mary and Brian facilitated a Circle in 2023. There is a new curriculum, Robbi Farrow, Alissa Ehrenkranz, and Brian will convene a Circle this fall. Stay tuned for an upcoming Sunday morning Adult Formation session when we will present more information about our fall kickoff.
