Blood Drive Success
In May, St. John's hosted our first blood drive and the American Red Cross collected 32 units of whole blood and 5 “power reds” for a total of 37 units of blood. This exceeded the maximum goal and we were thrilled with the turn out, even though we had to turn a couple walk-ins away and a few people deferred.
We have another blood drive scheduled for Tuesday, September 22. Sign up for your appointment at www.redcrossblood.org/give by typing in the zip code 83001 and choosing a time.
An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood or platelets, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. We are so grateful to the many donors for their generosity of becoming a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross and the loving mission of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
We could not have done it without the teamwork of many volunteers, the Red Cross, and of course the generous blood donors who gave their time, and literally part of themselves, to help others and save lives.
Blood Drive
