A Safe Place to Speak
We will see you on Thursday, May 17 from 5:30-7:00 pm in Hansen Hall at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Join us and Jimmy in partnership with the Community Safety Network along with Jeff Bucholz, from We End Violence, to watch and discuss film clips from Miss Representation and The Mask You Live In.
Miss Representation premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and exposed the ways in which mainstream media and culture contribute to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence. The Mask You Live In explores how America’s narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men, and society at large. This conversation will be facilitated by Jeff Bucholz focus on how limiting stereotypes harm all of us and what we can do together to ensure equality and justice. For people ages 12 and older.
St. John's is committed to working with Episcopal Relief & Development to mobilize faith networks internationally, nationally, regionally and locally to end gender-based violence and promote gender equality. We are proud to collaborate with the Community Safety Network to protect and empower women and men in this community and beyond.
