Where: The Kids Building

We have hired a new Youth Assistant; Isabel Amaya, who is 23 and hails from North Carolina; however, she does have family in Jackson and at St. John’s. She went through the interview process with myself, Ken, the rest of the full time staff, and various members of the personnel and youth committee and passed with flying colors. Isabel’s full time job in town is as a receptionist at Larsen Family Dentistry and she will be with us on a part time basis. For starters, Isabel brings years of experience in working with youth, has been volunteering with us for the last 6 months, is trained as a young life leader, and has already completed the Safe Guarding God’s Children class. If you have a chance please welcome her to our Parish family.

St. John’s is going to new frontiers of youth ministry.
July 23-August 10 Trent will be travelling to Europe to partner with an organization called Atlantic Bridge, which specializes in bringing youth groups from North America and Europe together to share faith, culture, and service. The travel agenda: July 23-25 Nuremberg, Germany Trent will be meeting with leaders to begin planning a St. John’s youth trip/pilgrimage for the summer of 2009 or 2010 July 25-Aug. 3 Jizen, Czech Republic Trent will be observing and training future youth leaders on evangelical outreach to their town Aug. 4-9 Nitra, Slovakia Trent will be the key note speaker and a small group leader at an International Youth Festival. To learn more visit www.atlanticbridge.org.

Because of the above mentioned trip, we will not have another formal youth gathering until Wednesday, August 27; however, Isabel (new youth assistant) will be trying to contact all of our youth and families that are still in town to introduce herself, get to know you all, and possibly arrange some contact time. She will also be able to answer any questions about camp or the start of the school season.
